REVISED Procedures for Carpool and Student
Drop-off/Pickup
Effective Oct. 4 for 2011-2012
You must observe the following procedures to ensure the safety of our children and keep traffic moving quickly.
Morning Drop-Off
7:00-7:20 – Breakfast Eaters
- Students enter the main entrance on Cravenridge by 7:15.
- Please park in a designated parking space to let them out of your car.
- Do not idle in the street.
- A staff member will be at the door to greet your child.
7:20-7:45 – Car Riders and Walkers
CAR RIDERS must be dropped off at the carpool location at Cynthia Dr. and Tryon Rd. The PTA will have Carpool Safety Team volunteers on hand to assist children.
- If you arrive by car, your child is a car rider and you must go through carpool.
- NEW: To get in carpool line, do one of the following:
- From Cravenridge, continue down Cravenridge past Pamela. At the stop sign, make a right turn onto Tryon and enter the carpool line; or
- Enter Tryon from any street except Cynthia (which is one-way during carpool times) then come straight into the carpool line
- Do not park on Tryon Road, Cynthia Dr. or Cravenridge Dr. to let your child out. The carpool line will move quickly because walkers will not be crossing at Tryon and Cynthia.
- Please do not turn left from Cynthia onto Tryon. This action is unsafe and it holds up the people who are following the procedures.
WALKERS enter the main entrance on Cravenridge.
- The crossing guard will be on Cravenridge at Tryon to assist walkers.
- If you arrive by car, your child is not a walker; he/she is a car rider and you must go through carpool.
- If you must walk your child into the school, park on Caldwell and walk to the cross walk where the Crossing Guard will assist.
- If you must park to assist your child in with a heavy load or large project, try to arrive before 7:20. You should park in a parking space (not on the street) and enter through the main entrance on Cravenridge. Please observe the No Parking areas which are clearly marked with yellow paint and/or orange cones. There is no parking on Tryon, Cynthia or Cravenridge during carpool.
After 7:45 – Tardy Arrivals
- Students must be accompanied into the building by an adult.
- Park, enter the main entrance on Cravenridge and go to the office to fill out a Tardy Slip.
- The doors at Tryon and Cynthia are locked at 7:45.
- After 7:45, street parking is allowed.
Afternoon Pick-Up
WALKERS are dismissed from the main entrance on Cravenridge so they can be assisted by the crossing guard.
CAR RIDERS are dismissed at the rear doors at Tryon and Cynthia.
- Carpool line begins BEHIND the crosswalk on Tryon. Enter the carpool line as described above for morning procedures.
- You may not park on Tryon, Cynthia or Cravenridge and walk up to the carpool area to meet your child. You must drive through the carpool line. This is for the safety of your children.
- If you arrive by car, your child is not a walker; he/she is a car rider and you must go through carpool.
- You will be given a number decal to place in your front windshield, passenger side.(If you are a returning family, your number will not change. Please keep your previous number on your windshield.)
- A teacher will motion for you to pull up and will put your child(ren) in the car. For safety, we suggest all children be placed into back seats. You must use proper child restraining devices per Georgia law.
- If you must pick up your child at the front hall. Park on Caldwell and walk to the cross walk to proceed into the building.
- Please remember to send a written note to your child’s teacher on days that your child rides home with anyone other than you or their usual carpool. Refer to the Student Handbook for the full procedure on emergency pick-ups.
